Pickleball has been America’s fastest-growing sport for multiple years straight, rivaling tennis, golf and more traditional sports. The boom can largely be explained by the lower barrier to entry, for example, as a result of a slower ball, smaller court size and fewer stroke types. It also happens to be incredibly fun (and social) while doubling as a great workout, so it’s no wonder this cross between tennis, badminton and ping-pong has exploded across the country. In fact, cities have been racing to build more courts amid zoning battles to keep up with the unprecedented demand. But not to worry—these five pickleball court locations in Palm Beach County are still available for play while we patiently await more.
Tennis & Pickleball Center
The Tennis & Pickleball Center has won multiple USTA National Member Organization of the Year awards and offers lessons and year-round programming. Its facilities include 20 har-tru clay tennis courts, 10 permanent and six temporary outdoor pickleball courts.
Mandel Recreation Center
This Town of Palm Beach 17,000-square-foot facility in Seaview Park offers everything from wellness, art and language to sports, preschool programs and camps. Indoor half-court pickleball reservations are available in one- or two-hour blocks for a fee or without cost on the outdoor mixed-used basketball court. Players must bring their own equipment, however, and the court is reserved for use every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
PickleBall Athletics Club
The PickleBall Athletics Club is a private membership club in West Palm Beach with eight dedicated outdoor pickleball courts. The club hosts various events that allow players to show up without a partner, allowing players to mix and mingle with others on a social and competitive level.
Okeeheelee Park
Play for free at Okeeheelee Park’s six lighted pickleball courts, available from sunrise to sunset on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Lake Lytal Park
Lake Lytal’s six lighted pickleball courts are open until 9 p.m. Cool off in the 50-meter swimming pool at the aquatic center post-pickling.
