As cycling favorite SoulCycle preps for its third annual Palm Beach pop-up at The Royal Poinciana Plaza this winter—this year featuring outdoor classes seven days a week through its SoulOutside initiative with bikes socially distanced—we catch up with instructor Francis Dalloway for tips on how he kicks his workout routine into high gear after all those December holiday indulgences.
After a long season of holiday excess, I get back on track with… a healthy diet—mostly by cutting out sweets and fried foods. Also, lots and lots of water.
My secret to looking and feeling great is… positive reinforcement with my words. I speak to myself with love and kindness. You have to be your own biggest cheerleader.
When I only have 15 minutes, my go-to workout is… HIIT training. I love incorporating kettlebells into my workouts.
My workout playlist is filled with… hip-hop. I love the ’90s classics—Snoop Dogg, Biggie Smalls, Missy Elliott, just to name a few.
It’s all about balance. On my cheat days, I treat myself with… pizza, pizza, pizza.

When I’m in a workout slump, I mix things up with… long bike rides, so I can take in the beautiful scenery, and yoga.
My fitness trick for rock-hard abs is... diet. Abs are made in the kitchen.
To ramp up my motivation, I… listen to some of my favorite motivational speakers, such as David Goggins and Eric Thomas.
When working out at home, I… do bodyweight calisthenics: 100 reps of pushups, dips, squats, situps and jump lunges with a 20-minute cap to complete it.
My favorite SoulCycle experience is… the new SoulOutside initiative. We launched almost 30 outdoor studios all over the country to meet our riders in a place where they felt safe and comfortable. I’m so excited for us to bring SoulOutside to Palm Beach.
