Sarah Knouse
Inspired by the natural elegance of stalagmite cave formations and the complex root system of the Banyan tree as she created the five life-sized sculptures of fragments of feminine bodies that make up her exhibition. She contrasts the feminine form against architectural elements by fusing household objects to body parts using a liquid-like coating. This creates a sensation of constant movement, representative of life – pieces of who we once were and the world around us collide with our present selves to create a forever fluctuating sense of self.

The exhibition “Roots & Remnants” was selected through a competitive process by a committee of visual art professionals, earning one of six solo showcases hosted by the Cultural Council this season. Knouse’s art has been featured in over six cities, from the Hockney Gallery at The Royal College of Fine Art in London to the Woman Made Gallery in Chicago. Knouse currently serves as the founding arts instructor at The Greene School in West Palm Beach, where she shares her talents and helps foster the growth of the next generation’s love of art. 601 Lake Ave., Lake Worth Beach, palmbeachculture.com/knouse
