Kings and queens and bishops too, want to wish the best to West Palm Beach’s Sandi Tree as it turns double digits!
The greatest tree in town is turning 10, and everyone in Palm Beach is invited to its birthday party. The 35-foot-tall, 700-ton holiday sand tree is the only one of its kind in the world, making its mark at the city’s waterfront this holiday season. This tree will be the main event in the City of West Palm Beach’s annual Holiday in Paradise tradition, which will be formally lit with other sand sculptures on December 2nd on the Great Lawn.
“This is a major milestone for our Holiday in Paradise event and the star of our show, Sandi,” said Keith A. James, Mayor of the City of West Palm Beach. “A decade of bringing joy to our waterfront is certainly something to celebrate, and we look forward to the brightest year yet. Through the years, Sandi has grown – both in size and popularity. When she started she was about 400-tons and today she is 700-tons. We estimate that she has brought joy to more than 1.5 million people over the years. It is clear she is an icon who is here to stay.”
Partnering with none other than the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach, this organization will provide holiday activities such as a scavenger hunt to find Sandi’s friends and sending letters to Sandi. Other activities to get excited about are TEE-KI Time Mini Golf and Sandi’s Storytime and Holiday Movies (fun for all ages!). For the month of December, nightly music and light shows will take the City of West Palm Beach by storm, radiating good energy and holiday spirit.
