Meet Dr. Edward H. Davidson, an eminent award-winning board-certified plastic surgeon, fellowship trained in craniomaxillofacial surgery, and the Director of Palm Beach Plastic Surgery Institute. Why is he different from every other surgeon in South Florida? An unwavering commitment to excellence and compassionate care, plus an extremely impressive resume, define Dr. Davidson’s career.
The primary focus of our practice is to provide world-class care to our patients based on a philosophy prioritizing patient safety, excellence in surgical outcomes, and an unparalleled commitment to the healthcare experience. We want patients to know they are getting the best possible care in terms of facilities, expertise of training, and personalized attention.
I always wanted to be a plastic surgeon and that has been the driving force on my journey from growing up in England. I feel extremely fortunate to have had the experience of medical School at the University of Cambridge, Plastic Surgery Residency at the top ranked program in America, University of Pittsburgh, and craniofacial fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Palm Beach is such a wonderful place to live, work, and practice medicine and so after more than a decade of hospital-based plastic surgery including as a Division Chief of Plastic Surgery, I was excited to have the opportunity to establish this practice here.
As a craniomaxillofacial plastic surgeon, I specialize in surgery of the face, both reconstructive and cosmetic. I work a lot with children, born with congenital facial differences, including cleft lip and palate, as well as patients requiring reconstruction after trauma and cancer. I established The Palm Beach Plastic Surgery Foundation as a philanthropic part of our practice that serves to provide access to healthcare, financial assistance, and education to these patients to ensure everyone in our community is getting the care they need.
If you’re thinking about a facelift you probably have a lot of questions and so the best thing is to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss what’s best for you; your aesthetic goals and your unique anatomy. A facelift is ideal for individuals experiencing sagging skin of the face and neck, deep wrinkles, jowls, or loss of facial volume.
If you’re not quite ready for a facelift (anatomically, financially, or emotionally), my recommendations are to invest in the care of your skin, consider Botox treatments as part of maintenance, avoid use of too much dermal filler and minimally invasive skin tightening treatments that may scar and distort tissues, lead to unnatural results, and impact any future facelift. For many patients the eyelids can show signs of ageing before the cheeks, lower face and neck and so blepharoplasty, whether it’s upper, lower or both may be worth considering. Upper lid blepharoplasty even has the advantage of being performed in office, under local anesthetic so is a very economical option with minimal downtime and recovery.
