The cultural and high-spirited powerhouse Palm Beach Symphony was twice nominated last week for the prestigious Emmy Awards in the Suncoast Region. Selected for its South Florida PBS broadcast of Eudora’s Fable: The Shoe Bird, the Symphony eagerly awaits the results of the well-deserved nominations, to be announced at the 47th Annual Suncoast Regional EMMY Awards on Dec. 2.
Eudora’s Fable: The Shoe Bird is an adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Eudora Welty’s children’s book, performed and recorded locally in 2021 by the Symphony. The production was narrated by highly acclaimed voice-over artist Charlie Adler and composed by the masterful Samuel Jones–with a special guest chorus appearance by the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by the Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for the inaugural broadcast in our Dale A. McNulty Children’s Concert Series that introduces young audiences to orchestral music,” says CEO David McClymont. “It is among the many firsts of our 50th Anniversary Season, including four world premieres.”
With a national broadcast by American Public Media seen by more than 114.7 million viewers nationwide since March, the performance is an impeccable representation of how impactful the Symphony is. The orchestra dedicates its efforts as a nonprofit arts organization to engaging Palm Beach locals with every spectacle they take to the stage. From educating the public to entertaining audiences with exceptional musicians and distinguished guest artists, it is no wonder their productions are such crowd-pleasers. palmbeachsymphony.org
