European Appeal
For designer Sarah Blank, color is nothing to shy away from. Part of the last iteration of the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach, this kitchen is alive with blue that pops on the cabinetry and provides the ideal counterbalance to the more rustic elements in the room, namely a massive table from Authentic Provence filled with antique vases that acts as an island atop raw chestnut floors. “I wanted to infuse touches of Europe and create a timeless kitchen that could last for decades to come,” says Blank. “These are places where people congregate and entertain, so we aimed for an inviting, highly functional space that could be enjoyed.” And, as far as Blank sees it, the kitchen is also a spot for art. In this case, it’s paintings of native Florida birds that echo the azure shades of the cabinetry. A stunning light fixture from the Rosie Li Collection solidifies the elegant intent of the room.
