Pedicure bench custom-designed for Jerome & Co. with art by Gabriele Brinkwirth
Beloved master hair colorist Jerome Salmon shares his styling tips for summer as he launches his solo salon endeavor. Palm Beachers have flocked to the hair color expert at Frédéric Fekkai’s salon at The Brazilian Court Palm Beach for more than a decade, but devotees have started heading north. The reason? Salmon, along with wife Diana, recently launched Jerome & Co. in Jupiter. “Opening your own salon is the ultimate achievement for most stylists and the perfect way to pass on your vision and knowledge to the next generation of talented hairstylists,” he says. Here, Salmon shares expert styling tips for summer trends.
What are your summer styling tips for those who have humidity-sensitive hair?
Embrace your natural hair texture and work with it, rather than trying to fight it!
How do you protect color-treated hair from the salt and sun?
A weekly deep-conditioning treatment will go a long way to keep your color-treated hair moisturized. For protection from the sun and salt or chlorine water, Huile Secret de Beauté by Leonor Greyl ($66) is your perfect summer ally. It can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment, sun-protection serum and even body oil. Plus, it smells like a tropical vacation.
How does one tackle the inevitable summer frizz?
If your hair is curly or wavy, use a texturizing or curl-enhancing product. Leonor Greyl’s Algues et Fleurs ($35) is our favorite. For straight hair, keep frizz at bay with a smoothing serum, like Serum de Soie Sublimateur ($46) or a light hair oil.
