A new showroom/studio in Palm Beach proves team effort and superior design go hand in hand.
Palm Beach Design Masters’ Joy Pahlavan and Carl Vasile
It all started a little over 15 years ago when interior designer Carl Vasile met Palm Beachers Joy and Sam Pahlavan.
Vasile, who by then had accrued more than 30 years in the design industry and worked on some of New York City’s most iconic landmarks, and Joy, a longtime friend, past medical executive and interior designer by way of natural talent, began working together on commercial facilities and then transitioned to buying and redeveloping properties.

Immediately into those collaborations, Joy and Sam realized they shared a vision with Vasile and, soon enough, Palm Beach Design Masters, a firm delivering high-quality residential and commercial interior design services and luxury property development, opened its doors. The winning formula proved to be Vasile’s training, the Pahlavans’ passion and the company’s prime location on Peruvian Avenue.
“Our approach is to always make sure every project reflects the homeowners’ style and vision, not just ours,” says Vasile. “From the start of any design job we try to develop a clear understanding of the clients’ needs, expectations, ideas and timelines.”
Since its opening this past February, the PBDM team’s deep roots in the Palm Beach community have only continued to grow. “The retail arm of our company, offering interior design, hand-selected gifts, floral art, furnishings, fine fabrics and wallcoverings, is where we really have solidified a longtime customer base,” adds Vasile. “Those who are so impressed by the store bring our team in to do their entire homes.”
A nook from one of the firm’s recent commercial design commissions
Recent completed projects for the trio include a 12,000-square-foot healthcare facility in West Palm Beach, and these days they are busy redeveloping a cottage in the historic district of Lake Worth Beach. A slew of residential commissions are also keeping them in high demand. But they’re up for it: With a workroom that allows them to design and build custom furniture and window treatments, and strong relationships with various local and international fabric, lighting, furniture and accessory brands, it’s obvious this firm means business and here to stay. 326 Peruvian Ave., Ste. 9, Palm Beach, 561.318.8142, palmbeachdesignmasters.com
