The recipe behind Kitchen, a contemporary American brasserie by Matthew and Aliza Byrne, focuses on passionately prepared, chef-driven cuisine and welcoming service.
Tucked in the heart of the historic El Cid neighborhood, Kitchen is the delectable brainchild of power couple Matthew and Aliza Byrne. After continued success with their original West Palm Beach location, they opened their second location in Palm Beach Gardens.
The concept was born after Matthew spent a long career serving as Tiger Woods’ private chef. The culinary duo set out to create a concept that would appeal to their friends and family. “We wanted to open a restaurant that feels like we’re having a dinner party every night,” says Aliza. “Our friends have these huge kitchens and nobody cooks in them. So when we had people over for dinner parties at our place, everyone would always congregate in our little kitchen.”
Word quickly spread about chef Matthew’s seasonally inspired menu and Aliza’s congenial hospitality. Diners flock to the restaurant for seared diver scallops with creamy bacon and Brussels sprouts, as well as chicken schnitzel decked out with radish, sweet onions, mushrooms, arugula and a fried egg (the latter of which is chef Matthew’s favorite dish).
What is the culinary duo’s personal recipe for success? “We’ve been a couple for 24 years. As business partners and best friends, we always make sure to sit down and have dinner together every night,” says Aliza. “At Kitchen, we want people to have a conversation, sit down and break bread, which is a rare luxury.” 319 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach; 5250 Donald Ross Road, #100, Palm Beach Gardens
