Fashion brand Hedge mixes style and sport for the country club set.
Founded by Meagan Ouderkirk and Antonia DiPaolo, Hedge is an elegant line of women’s golf and tennis attire. Simultaneously addressing function and fashion, the luxury sports line combines the comfort of athletic attire with stylish silhouettes. It all began as a friendship 13 years ago on the tennis court in Bridgehampton, N.Y. The two women began chatting about the atrocious options for tennis attire in all white, a dress code regulation at their club. They lamented about how male designers dominated the creative construction of athletic attire and they found the choices boxy and unflattering. A lightbulb went off and the idea for Hedge was born.
The duo set out to create pieces that encourage flexibility but look fabulous. Think timeless, well-constructed pieces in natural fabrics that breathe and thoughtful details like mesh pockets, tee holsters and built-in sports bras. “Women appreciate the silky, soft fabrics and the nonconstrictive drape that feels wearable throughout the day,” says Ouderkirk, who formerly worked for Ralph Lauren. “Each item in the collection will flatter any figure and bring out the confident player.”

A former finance executive, DiPaolo says the entrepreneurs’ collective experiences helped build the foundation for their brand. Everything in their lives up until the point they met had given them the skills they needed to launch a fashion-forward sports line. “Our pieces are tailored specifically for sport but are elegant enough for cocktails,” says DiPaolo.
The brand name Hedge alludes to the private hedges ubiquitous in both Palm Beach and the Hamptons—those pristine walls of green that evoke the luxury lifestyle and leave you curious as to what happens beyond the gates or, in this case, on the golf course.
