Liz Lange may have one of the most quintessential Palm Beach homes on the island, complete with pastels, vibrant prints and bright blues. It was the perfect setting to ring in her new collection with Figue, as well as host a book signing for Slim Aaron’s newest book, Style.
The day was full of vibrant prints, steady flowing cocktails and a special guest appearance from esteemed interior decorator and Lange’s best friend, Jonathan Adler. Lange’s picture-perfect debut for her new collection could have very well been photographed by Aarons himself.

Lange’s new collection with Figue started when she found out the owner was winding down production during COVID. She promptly took advantage of this information and acquired the company shortly after. Lange is a fashion powerhouse, creating a widely successful maternity line as well as a collection on HSN. Her newest venture with Figue will contain a plethora of bold prints and colors, drawing upon influences as local as Palm Beach women to as global as Cher.

“I spend a lot of time pouring over all of the Slim Aaron’s books, but there are also so many stylish women here in Palm Beach,” Lange mused. Lange’s collaboration with Slim Aarons was a match made in heaven, as her collection and home perfectly complement Aaron’s imagery of the Palm Beach lifestyle.
“Iconic figures from Jackie Kennedy in the 70s during her Onassis years where she would spend a lot of time on Skorpios, to the fabulous Jane Birkin are major sources of inspiration. Their styles are minimal and bold at the same time.” She also adds that social media has been an integral way of finding inspiration and provides an amazing outlet to connect with customers.
Lange has incorporated her own taste into the collection by selecting bold archival prints with simple and comfortable silhouettes, perfect for any occasion. Lange’s deep love for caftans has translated into her new collection, with an array of patterns and prints available.
“I love caftans; I always joke I’ve entered my caftan years. I love them because they can be dressy or casual yet fit for any occasion! It’s kind of like a trick because they are just as comfy as sweats, but people will come up to me and say ‘Wow you look great. What an effort you went through this morning!’" Lange exclaimed. She also says the collection’s signature caftan drew upon inspiration from an image of Cher where she wore a white gown along with an ornate swash blossom turquoise necklace. Along with caftans, there will be an array of separates, blouses, pants, knits and dresses available to people of all ages.
Not only does Lange have a fashion line to run, she also recently created an eight-episode podcast documenting the trials her family faced while growing up in New York.
"I think the audience will be able to really relate to the familiar hardships we endured. I hope the listener can empathize with my story, even if the specifics of how they grew up are different,” Lange said.
Shawn Waldron
The afternoon wouldn’t have been complete without Slim Aaron’s new book, Style, which documents the tastes and lifestyles of the world’s elite in the 20th century. Author Shawn Waldron was in attendance to discuss Style, as well as Jonathan Adler who composed the book’s forward.
“This is Slim’s first book that focuses specifically on fashion and style through the decades,” explained Getty archivist and author of Style, Shawn Waldron.
“Slim Aarons infamously said he was never a fashion photographer; he was a photojournalist. The reason we call it style is because it’s not limited to fashion; it’s the overall package of style. It’s about where they live, what car they drive, where they vacation, what yachts they embark on, or even what dogs and horses they have. Style is a culmination of many things which this book hopes to illustrate,” Waldron added.
Both Waldron and Adler were in attendance to converse with guests and sign copies of the publication. Guests congregated on the picturesque patio of Lange’s home, as well as her living room which she turned into a quasi-showroom for Figue. Guests were invited to try on any of the new collection’s garments, as well as chat about Aaron’s latest book edition. The day wouldn’t have been complete without the array of hors d’oevres, cocktails and wines for guests’ enjoyment.
This was the perfect day filled celebrating both artistic ventures.
