Inaugural Furry Friends and Fancy Things Luncheon
Raises Thousands of Dollars for Animal Rescue
Fashion, food and friendship join forces to support animals in need of homes and medical care.
PALM BEACH, FL November 2019 - The first annual Furry Friends and Fancy Things fundraising
luncheon raised over $200,000 to benefit Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch (The Humane Society of
Greater Jupiter/Tequesta) on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Pelican Club in Jupiter, Fla. The event featured a
demonstration by service dogs in training, silent auction, live auction called by auctioneer Jay Zeager,
marketplace with clothing and accessory vendors, Lady Jetset fashion show, and debut of The Women of
Palm Beach 2020 Calendar.
“The day was so much more than just a day of fun and fashion,” said Pat Deshong, president of Furry
Friends. “Attendees and donors helped support our mission of helping the abandoned and abused
animals that find their way to our doors every day.”
“The Real Housewives of Dallas” star Kameron Westcott served as the Honorary Chairwoman of the
inaugural Furry Friends and Fancy Things. Dressed in a hot pink full-length flor et.al two-piece creation,
Westcott mingled with the 250 guests in attendance and looked stunning on stage as she shared why
animal charities have a special place in her heart.
The Bravo star recently lost her beloved dog Louis last month after 15 cherished years together. “He was
so much more than a dog,” she said. “He was my partner. He was with me from starting my life as an
adult through marriage, through starting a business, dealing with all the drama in Dallas, and now two
children...He meant the world to me.”
As part of the live auction, Westcott donated the exclusive opportunity to go shopping with her in Dallas at
the Neiman Marcus flagship store. There were 2 winning bids bringing in over $13,000 for Furry Friends.
Westcott’s look is now available to rent for $150 from Lady Jetset at ladyjetset.com. She told Lady Jetset
co-founder and president Bethany Sharp that the two-piece outfit fit her better than a custom-made gown.
The brand new flor et.al Baja Blouse retails for $325 and the Veracruz Skirt retails for $595, so your
readers or viewers can be amongst the first to wear it as a rental for a fraction of the cost. It can be
shipped directly to a home or hotel address, so renters can look as fabulous as a “Real Housewife” for a
special day out or on a vacation.
Other high-ticket live auction items were:
● A five-course food and wine pairing for 12 guests at the award-winning Evo Italian Restaurant,
hosted by celebrity chef Erik Pettersen.
● A behind-the-scenes fashion buyer experience to travel to New York City with Lady Jetset’s
Bethany Sharp in February 2020 to go on exclusive tours of designer showrooms as Lady Jetset
buys looks for her Fall 2020 rental collection.
● One-of-a-kind, custom artwork painted by classically trained artist Nicole Newsted exclusively for
this event.
● A private lesson from professional race car driver Scott Sharp, followed by a private lunch with
the former Indy and IMSA racer.
● Seven-day/six-night safari holiday on the Thulani private estate villa in South Africa, located in the
Blue Canyon Conservancy.
Lady Jetset’s Bethany Sharp served as Fashion Chair, Pantelides PR & Consulting owner and founder
Emily Pantelides served as Event Chairwoman, and philanthropist Herme De Wyman Miro served as
International Chairwoman. A special thank you goes out to event sponsors Judie and Marty Sweren,
